Useful, specific and honest
Each guide should answer a distinct maintenance question. It should identify the relevant system, tools, preparation, safe checks, expected result and point at which the reader needs qualified help. A longer article is not automatically a better article.
Sources and expertise
We prefer government guidance, manufacturer instructions and recognized technical organizations. Product-specific instructions must retain their limits. A source check is not a professional inspection, a practical test or a credential. AI assistance is disclosed; generated text must still be checked against its sources.
Safety takes priority
We do not provide novice procedures for live electrical work, gas work, structural alterations or disturbing suspected asbestos. We avoid suggesting a cosmetic treatment for an unresolved moisture or movement problem.
Commercial independence
Advertising and affiliate relationships must be disclosed. Payment must not buy a safety recommendation, a favorable community answer or an invented review. No product stars or performance claims are published without a stated evidence base.
Updates and corrections
A source-check date records an actual check. It is not advanced automatically. Substantive corrections should identify what changed and when. See the corrections policy and checking process.
